Overview General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider military weapon systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for a Procurement Specialist I to join our Saco, ME team. We are looking for a motivated and creative leader to help shape and support our mission. The Procurement Specialist I: Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use as a generalist or in a combination of Purchasing Disciplines The ideal candidate must possess strong communication skills both written and orally, be self-motivated, and have the ability to manage their time effectively. The candidate will be familiar with procurement and manufacturing principles. The candidate will work in a fast paced environment and liaison between all supply chain functions, the Saco operations team, and other departments. Major Position Responsibilities
Develops and executes sourcing strategy, evaluates product offerings, recommends suppliers, and negotiates contracts for assigned categories or departments.
Basic Qualifications Required Education: Associates Degree and/or Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree Discipline/Major: Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related degree Years of Experience: 0-3 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Decision-making skills. Oral and written communication skills. Analytical thinking skills. Detail oriented. Ability to meet deadlines. Negotiation Skills. Travel Requirements: No or very little travel likely. |
