  • Clean, degrease, deoxidize, or de-smut weld joint or work piece, using wire brush, portable grinder, or solvent clean/chemical bath as needed.
  • Weld completion accomplished in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions for at least three base materials using a wide variety of processes. (That is, deposit weld beads exhibiting proper sidewall and interpass fusion, size, profile, interpass cleanliness, wrap and staggered, fused, and cleaned starts and stops rarely (no more than 3%) requiring grinding/dressing to meet VT acceptance standards).
  • Lay out work from blueprints for the following, but not limited to: plates for shearing, burning by manual or automatic burning and cutting, angles for punching and shearing, drilling patterns, templates for shaping steel, plates and shapes to be shaped with or without heat, stiffeners and bulkheads to plates, bolt and fastener patterns for various parts, manholes, and equipment foundations.
  • Inspect work for proper fit-up and adequate cleanliness for welding.
  • Locate materials, fabricate and install from blueprints the following, but not limited to ladders, handrails, stairways, grating, walkways, manholes, equipment foundations, pipe racks, brackets, pipe systems, braces and supports to maintain straightness.
  • Fabricate fit brackets, panels, complex beam/shape structures as needed.
  • Plumb transverse bulkheads and panels to fabricate enclosure complex weldments, shapes/plates, simple and complex parts from a drawing or sketches.
  • Operate and set up of the following equipment including but not limited to hydraulic jacks/pumps, chain falls, come-along, steamboat ratchets, slings, tie downs, iron workers, saws, pneumatic/electric tools, drill press, pipe benders, press brakes, plate shears, plasma cutting torches, and all manual, semi-automatic, & automatic cutting torches & machines.
  • Expertly repair base metal products and completed welds by adding the minimum amount of weld metal or heat and the minimum amount of grinding/smoothing to meet job specification.
  • Perform multi-pass, all position fillet and groove welds using SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), Submerged Arc Welding, FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding) processes, or the most efficient combination thereof for steels, stainless steels or nickel-based alloys, and for copper-based alloys, aluminum alloys, or titanium alloys.
  • Perform air-arc back gouging and oxy-acetylene torching (e.g. brazing, cutting, or pre-heating), GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding), pipe welding, pipe flange/ socket welding.
  • Qualify to perform either flux cored inner shield welding, weld overlay cladding, automated back gouging, plasma back gouging or any combination thereof.
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required and always mark completed welds with welder number.
  • Perform single pass 5/16-inch minimum fillet welds in all positions using FCAW on carbon steel and at least -inch single-pass fillets on two other materials.
  • Supervise set up to perform welding in accordance with applicable WPS all welding equipment such as: wire feeders, sub-arc tractors, Bug O's, power sources, etc.
