Position Type: Teaching/Department Chairs Date Posted: 5/2/2025 Location: Minnetonka High School (MHS) Date Available: 2025-26 School Year Closing Date: Until Filled Specific Level Department Chair Job Description: This position require strong collaboration with each of the three levels focusing on curriculum alignment, essential learnings and essential instructional practices. The position requires at least three days of collaboration time for the three levels to accomplish the tasks. Ideally, one day would be spent in August, one during the school year, and one in June. Additional time may be required during the school year. This falls under the umbrella of the District and the level Principals. I. Grades 9-12 Department Chairperson Lead the instructional work for the department. Co-facilitate monthly department meetings. Lead and ensure deep implementation of the Minnetonka Instructional Framework in all courses to ensure all courses of deep levels of implementation. Lead the work of experiential learning in all courses. Propose new courses that meet the needs of our learners and challenges them. Lead the development of online learning within your department. Create pathways for students to complete rigorous coursework. Lead the work of innovation in the building and actively searching ideas. Help define, integrate and communicate the essential learnings and summative assessments in each course. Support curriculum mapping and curriculum revision. Provide leadership for selecting materials. Help with recruitment and interviews when appropriate. Requirements Continuing Contracted Teacher (tenured) in the department for which position is needed. Ability to lead the development of the District and building goals. Exceptional communication skills. Demonstrated effective leadership within the department, as evidenced by successful experiences directly related to the responsibilities of the position. Willingness to work additional days outside the school year (example: school board meeting or help with summer curriculum writing, or others) as are necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Participation in workshops and additional trainings are required to further develop the knowledge and skills required of the position.
