The Human Resources (HR) Assistant in the Houston, Texas office will provide administrative support to functional areas of Human Resources including timecard processing, expense management, background checks, unemployment verifications, and various HR projects. This position supports the department as a whole to accomplish initiatives and objectives in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the firm. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Process timecards of firm legal support and business services staff and ensuring timely completion; answer time entry-related questions from employees and managers, investigate timecard issues; and train new supervisors to approve timecards
  • Monitoring department email boxes and facilitating the responses to employees
  • Assist with HRIS data entry, including new hire and termination processing, benefit updates and general employee updates
  • Process changes to the Firm's financial system, SAP through InTapp forms; confirm data is entered correctly and consistently
  • Primary contact for responding to unemployment and verification of employment requests
  • Responsible for background check process for the Firm; submit requests to vendor
  • Support responses to survey and data requests
  • Assist with People & Development and firm-wide events and projects
  • Submit department-wide expense reimbursements and vendor payment requests
  • Draft job descriptions
  • Document guidelines and best practices for tasks assigned
  • Provide administrative support to all Human Resources functional areas and assistance with on-going projects, as needed

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma required
  • Minimum 1-2 years of human resources or professional experience a plus
  • Spreadsheet and database or Workday experience a plus
  • Demonstrate good judgment and accountability for delivering excellent service
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Professionalism, personal integrity and high degree of confidentiality
  • Strong computer and technical skills
  • Advanced user in Microsoft Office Suite, data entry skills, and ability to learn new programs and systems quickly
  • Self-starter who is committed to the job, with flexibility to work overtime as needed
