Job Overview

Reports to: Chemical Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Maintenance & OHS Manager

Location: Kent, WA

Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly)

Schedule: 1st Shift; Overtime may be required (extended shifts and/or weekends); On-Call is <5%.

Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

Position Summary

Employees in this position are responsible for providing support to the production departments by keeping the process solutions in specification by making chemical additions or bath replacements. This position also maintains environmental compliance by wastewater treatment and proper preparation and storage of hazardous materials for proper off-site disposal.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with experienced Technicians and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Accurately measure liquid and solid materials.
  • Perform maintenance on chemical levels in tanks to ensure they remain within spec; this may include adds, splits, etc.
  • Operate pumps in order to perform chemical maintenance on plating and anodize lines.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Follow Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Follow safety precautions as trained.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Pre-employment and annual physical exam required; ability to wear a respirator.
  • Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with other employees, Customers, and auditors.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license may be required to work in all areas of the facility.


Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
  • 1-2 years in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • 2-5 years of hazardous materials/waste and wastewater treatment handling preferred, but not required.
  • HAZWOPER certification preferred, but not required.

  • Ability to pivot and pinch occasionally
  • Ability to grasp frequently
  • Ability to see/hear/feel constantly



Hearing protection required when working some areas of the facility. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, Personal Protection Equipment may be required including safety glasses, goggles, aprons, rubber boots, gloves, and respirator (provided by Company).

Salary Range for position: $21.00 - $33.00. Position in the range depends upon experience level.
