Job Type: Full Time in Office, NOT Remote

Experience: 6+ year preferred Proven experience in accounting with the construction industry

Reports to: CFO, Will have supervisory responsibility

Wage: $95,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary:

Croell, Inc. is seeking a Division Controller - Aggregates, Equipment & Inventory to provide strategic financial leadership and operational support across our Aggregates, Equipment, and Inventory Divisions. This highly visible role will ensure compliance with accounting standards, drive operational efficiencies, and act as a key business partner to division leadership and operations.

The Division Controller will lead financial reviews, oversee cost accounting processes, deliver actionable insights to operational managers, and support decision-making and financial planning to achieve division goals. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and supervises accounting staff.

Note: Candidates with a strong cost accounting background may be considered for an Aggregate Senior Accountant role depending on experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

Financial Operations and Compliance:



  • Review and optimize inventory valuations and costing, equipment rates, and royalty calculations in accordance with accounting standards and company agreements.
  • Approve and oversee cost accounting journal entries and equipment and inventory reconciliations.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance across divisions.


Financial Reporting and Analysis:



  • Analyze division P&L statements, site-level costing reports, and operational KPIs; summarize key findings and trends for leadership.
  • Develop and present monthly executive summaries highlighting financial and operational performance.
  • Review and discuss monthly financial results with regional managers and other operational leaders, providing guidance on variances and improvement areas.


Leadership and Collaboration:



  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting a culture of servant leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement aligned with Croell's core values.
  • Provide financial coaching to division leaders, particularly supporting new hires in understanding accounting processes, costing models, and financial review practices.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, departments, and external auditors to deliver timely, accurate financial information.


Audit and Close Support:



  • Lead audit engagement related to Aggregates, Equipment, and Inventory Divisions; own division-specific audit documentation and requests.
  • Support the monthly corporate accounting close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of divisional financial data.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance division-level financial processes to improve efficiency, transparency, and reporting accuracy.


Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 6+ years of accounting experience within the construction, aggregates, manufacturing, or heavy equipment industry.
  • Proven expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and operational financial analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting compliance standards, internal controls, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with executives, operational teams, and auditors to achieve business goals.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manage complex financial data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and ERP systems; Vista (Viewpoint) software experience is a plus.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
