The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position. The faculty member will hold a clinical appointment at Raritan Bay Medical Center (
RBMC) in Behavioral Health.

The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration focuses on the clinical and regulatory aspects of pharmacy practice. The mission of the Department is to participate in preparing students to provide pharmaceutical care in its varied practice settings. Graduating students are equipped with the necessary skills to adapt to a changing healthcare environment. Students are also provided with scientific fundamentals, ethics, and attitudes essential to adapt their careers to changes in healthcare over their lifetime. This mission supports the overall mission of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy in four critical areas: teaching, practice, scholarship, and service.
RBMC, with locations in Perth Amboy and Old Bridge, NJ, is a 347-bed Magnet-designated medical center and state-designated primary stroke and community perinatal center. It is part of Hackensack Meridian Health (
HMH) and offers a postgraduate education program in medicine.
RBMC-Perth Amboy offers comprehensive services in Behavioral Health and is expanding services in the region. The inpatient Behavioral Health footprint at
RBMC-Perth Amboy is 81 beds. Geropsychiatry and dual diagnosis are their sub-specialties. The site is also home to a private faculty practice located adjacent to
RBMC-Old Bridge that is staffed by 2 psychiatrists and 2 therapists.
The Behavioral Health clinical pharmacist faculty member will collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and medical staff to optimize the care of patients in our Behavioral Health program and Substance Use Disorder service in inpatient (voluntary psychiatry unit), emergency department, and ambulatory settings (outpatient offices/clinics). The faculty member will organize, develop, and participate in clinical and quality improvement activities. Clinical activities include, but are not limited to the following: practice under collaborative practice agreement to optimize inpatient and outpatient pharmacotherapy, participation in quality initiatives to reduce readmissions, enhance medication access, participation in multidisciplinary rounds, provide interprofessional education, collaboration on policy and procedure development, committee participation, perform research and medication use evaluations, conduct dosing consults, support Medication Assistance Treatment initiatives, follow hospital procedures for billing for services when appropriate, provide community outreach support, and precept.
Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and have completed at least two years of residency training with a
PGY-2 in psychiatry/Behavioral Health or equivalent experience. Candidates must be highly motivated, innovative, and team-oriented and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide patient-centered care with a commitment to teaching, service, and professional advancement. Board certification is preferred. Eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of New Jersey is required.
