Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Project Assistant for the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. This position is responsible for assisting in the execution of workforce development, education and training research activities, studies, technical assistance activities, and program evaluation projects.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Conducts and writes literature reviews.
- Develops research designs for studies and evaluations primarily involving qualitative or mixed-methods.
- Assists in the development of data collection protocols and IRB packages.
- Performs data collection efforts through surveys, interviews, focus groups with respondents, or through secondary data.
- Writes policy briefs, memos, research summaries, and research reports.
- Assists in preparing meeting agendas, meeting summaries, other research or evaluation project materials, producing timely and high quality writing, tabular and visual materials for research reports and presentations, and assisting in research project management activities such as monitoring project budgets, preparing financial and progress reports as well as communicating with study sponsors on study progress.
This position is grant-funded and contingent upon available funding. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a bachelor's degree preferably in public policy, social work, education, sociology or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant research experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Requires the ability to work independently.
- Requires excellent verbal, writing and analytical, organizational and attention to detail skills, computer literacy and general communication skills.
- Requires some knowledge of descriptive quantitative methods and the visualization and presentation of descriptive data.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's degrees and three years of relevant work in academia, government or a nonprofit research or social services agency, and/or experience working in prior social science research studies is preferred.
- Experience with using one or more qualitative software packages is preferred.
- Experience in the representation of descriptive statistical data and graphics is also preferred, but not required.
