What success looks like in this role:
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, maintain, and decommission Dell PowerEdge servers, with a focus on optimal performance and uptime. Manage and configure RAID arrays to meet system requirements and performance objectives; troubleshoot RAID issues using Dell OpenManage or other tools. Handle and install hardware components in strict adherence to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety protocols to protect sensitive equipment. Respond to and manage TSRs (Technical Support Requests), including coordination with Dell EMC support for diagnostics, RMAs, and on-site services. Perform firmware updates, BIOS configurations, and hardware diagnostics using Dell iDRAC, Lifecycle Controller, and OpenManage Enterprise. Implement and maintain server health monitoring and alerting; perform preventive maintenance and capacity planning. Follow structured cabling standards, manage rack layouts, and maintain optimal airflow, power balancing, and physical infrastructure. Maintain accurate documentation of server assets, configurations, procedures, and incident reports. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support and emergency response.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
2-5 years of experience working with Dell PowerEdge servers in a data center environment. Proficiency in RAID setup and troubleshooting, including common levels like RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10. Strong adherence to ESD best practices and safety procedures in hardware handling. Experience submitting and managing TSRs with Dell or similar vendors. Knowledge of server management tools (iDRAC, OpenManage, Lifecycle Controller). Familiarity with both Linux and Windows Server environments. Ability to lift, rack, and cable heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs). Excellent documentation, communication, and time-management skills.
Nice-to-Have:
Dell EMC or CompTIA Server+ certifications. Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Ansible). Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V). Familiarity with DCIM tools and environmental monitoring systems.
