What success looks like in this role:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Design & Management: Architect, deploy, and manage GCP-based infrastructure solutions, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools such as Google Cloud Deployment Manager, Terraform, and gcloud CLI to automate provisioning, management, and monitoring of GCP environments.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement GCP security best practices, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), VPC Service Controls, encryption (KMS), and auditing (Cloud Audit Logs) to meet security and compliance requirements.
  • Performance & Cost Optimization: Monitor GCP resource usage, performance, and cost. Proactively optimize cloud resources to achieve high performance while minimizing costs.
  • Disaster Recovery & Backup Solutions: Design and implement disaster recovery (DR) and backup strategies for high availability and business continuity using Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL automated backups, Snapshots, and multi-region deployments.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Integrate GCP services with CI/CD pipelines using GCP DevOps tools like Cloud Build, Cloud deploy and third-party tools (Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Quickly respond to and resolve infrastructure-related incidents, minimizing service disruption. Conduct root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Collaboration & Mentoring: Work closely with development, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the optimal setup of the cloud infrastructure and the delivery of infrastructure projects. Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure design, configurations, and operational procedures.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 3-5 years working with GCP cloud services and environments.
  • GCP Services Expertise: Deep knowledge of Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, VPC, GKE, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Armor, and Identity Aware Proxy.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Expertise in automating cloud infrastructure using Deployment Manager, Terraform, or gcloud CLI.
  • Networking: Strong understanding of GCP networking concepts, including VPCs, Subnets, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Interconnects, and VPNs.
  • Security & Compliance: Expertise in implementing and managing IAM, KMS, VPC SC, Guardrails, Forseti/Config Validator, and security command center.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy, Artifact Registry, and third-party CI/CD tooling.
  • Operating Systems: Strong proficiency with both Linux and Windows server environments, with a focus on cloud infrastructure.
  • Monitoring & Optimization: Hands-on experience with Cloud Monitoring, Logging, Cloud Trace, and third-party tools like Prometheus/Grafana to track the performance and health of GCP environments.
  • Database Management: Familiarity with GCP database services like Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Firestore, and Spanner.
  • Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system management tasks.
  • Troubleshooting & Performance Tuning: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.
  • Certifications: GCP Professional Cloud Architect, GCP Professional DevOps Engineer, or equivalent certifications are highly preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
