Sr. Investigation II Manager
Hyundai's North America Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for a Senior Manager for the Investigation Team II Group
The Team: NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group (HMG)'s North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to further Hyundai's goal of becoming the leading automotive manufacturer in North America by delivering uncompromising quality and exceeding consumer expectations.
The Position: The Sr. Investigation II Manager would oversee the Investigation Team II Group, a team tasked with resolving quality-related issues concerning powetrain, electric vehicle (EV), chassis, trim, electrical, and infotainment systems inthe Eastern U.S. and Canadian markets
What You Will Do:
- Understand, follow, and continually communicate with one's direct reports the department's business model, strategic direction, purpose, and mission
- Set department-related goals and objectives that align with NAQC's direction. Then, drive execution, engagement, and results to accomplish them.
- Manage the department's plan, strategy, and budget allocation/usage
- Oversee the department's vehicle usage and asset administration
- Develop the department's resources and capabilities
- Mentor and support direct reports
- Foster inner-team collaboration and knowledge sharing through transparent communication
- Proactively identify potential issues through quality validation activities during the development of new vehicles in North America, prior to the start of production
- Collect, analyze, triage, and prioritize quality initiatives for NAQC and its business partners
- Enhance the effectiveness of the FRFT (Fix-it-Right-the-First-Time) initiative by conducting in-depth analysis to mitigate misdiagnoses, erroneous repairs, and unnecessary part replacements
- Analyze customer complaints using objective quality data, investigate their root causes, and validate the effectiveness of the suggested corrective actions
- Leverage the SMART system to generate weekly and monthly reports, tracking project status and progress
- Facilitate weekly meetings and reports via the QIR (Quality Information Reports) system, ensuring timely updates and issue resolution
- Prepare and present reports of department-related findings/insights for upper management to review
- Represent NAQC at affiliate meetings (e.g., QIR, FSE, FTS, LQMP, MQ, battery, etc.), presenting insights and recommendations
- Lead quality meetings concerning the Eastern U.S. and Canadian markets
- Establish and adhere to validation test processes & documentation
- Monitor external databases related to safety and product feedback, investigating and reporting when needed
- Diagnose and support the resolution of root causes linked to external indices, such as IQS, VDS, and CR
- Provide pre- and post-launch technical support and participate in various product evaluation programs with NA sales affiliates and assembly plants
- Work closely with HMNA/KMNA NASO to conduct in-depth investigations of key quality issues and compile and disseminate comprehensive reports
- Support dealers and vendors with quality-related issues
- Oversee supplier audits to ensure NA meets HMG's quality standards
- Partner with HMC (Hyundai Motor Company)/Kia KASO to collect incident parts and support the planning and execution of investigative efforts across North America
- Collaborate with the IT departments of NAQC and HMNA/KMNA to access critical databases, enabling early detection of quality issues in the market
- Remain current with market trends and new technologies
- Support market research initiatives and activities to ensure the quality of new vehicle launches
- Coordinate various quality improvement activities to reduce costs and enhance overall HMG brand quality
- Collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders (i.e., HMG R&D, suppliers, other quality departments, etc.) to resolve complex, quality-related issues
- Travel up to 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related discipline
- 15+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience managing engineers
- QA/QC/QI experience
- Extensive experience with powetrain, EV, chassis, trim, electrical, and/or infotainment systems
- Familiarity with Vector CANalyzer/CANoe/CANape, Oscilloscope, and Spectrum analyzer
- Root cause analysis skills
- Experience conducting field and on-site investigations
- Familiarity with performing testing, validation, research, and benchmarking activities/tasks
- Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
- Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Project management experience
- Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
