Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), Center for PreCollege Programs (
CPP) is seeking a Program Manager (PM) for the PreCollege Academy.
CPP serves over 2,000 students among all its precollege programs and special initiatives. Reporting to the Director/ Associate Dean of
CPP the Program Manager will have primary oversight of the PreCollege Academy. They will also be responsible for the recruitment and supervision of full-time, part-time staff and seasonal faculty and staff who work to support and offer the designated programming and services to the scholars enrolled in the PreCollege Academy program.
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Provides overall leadership and direction; program planning, development, and assessment, anticipation of complex functional needs; and develops recommendations and solutions for the PreCollege Academy.
- Develops protocol and procedures, follows and enforces all university policies and procedures, and renders services that meet the academic, social, and/or special population needs of the enrolled scholars.
- Organizes, administer, and coordinate multiple facets of planning, preparation, evaluation, budget, communications, events, records, statistics, reports, and documents.
- Develops and coordinate year-round programming including but not limited to academic year activities/workshops; and summer activities; including trips and staff recruitment.
- Research and plan curriculum and program criteria, as well as supervise, evaluate, and/or support professional staff.
- Manages evaluations of programs and services, assess service levels and program progress, prepare appropriate recommendations for fund development, and prepare and submit all required reports.
- Develops collaborative efforts, relationships, and strategic alliances with university constituents and external agencies, corporations, target school districts, community organizations, and other college pipeline programs.

Work Arrangement |
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, public administration, organizational management, social sciences, social work or related field.
- Must have at minimum 2 years supervisory experience in program management, curriculum development with demonstrated experience in creative alternative programming.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Requires proficient organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and experience working within the communities of Newark highly preferred.
- Requires a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in an administrative function, student support, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's degree in education, social work, social sciences, nonprofit or public administration or policy preferred or equivalent work experience in education, youth development, sociology, social work, public administration.
|
Equipment Utilized |
- Beyond Microsoft Office suite (or similar) software, Program Manager must be familiar with educational curricula, social networking web applications, and basic computer equipment and technology.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- Able to lift/carry equipment & supplies for program activities (30lbs or less.
- Programming runs on scheduled Saturdays during the Academic year and some evenings.
- Must be able to travel as needed.
