Overview |
With its broad and multidisciplinary faculty expertise, the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (
EOHSI) is an international resource that supports basic and clinical research in environmental health sciences and exposure assessment and fosters associated programs in environmental health education and public policy.
Established in 1986, EOHSI's major objectives are to:
Advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health.
Identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals. Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures. Develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures. Contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks. Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.
The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment.
EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey has opening for a Work Assistant within the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute, located in Piscataway, NJ.
Under supervision, supports administrative operations for the federally funded World Trade Center Health Program at Rutgers. Assists program staff with member services, data entry, records management, medical claims processing, and other administrative functions. This is a Temporary (12 month) hourly part-time position.
Duties include:
- Assists administrative team in coordinating patient care for World Trade Center Health Program members. Works with patients and providers to identify member needs and conduct authorizations in accordance with programmatic guidelines.
- Supports program retention and patient education efforts. Screens patient calls and proactively contacts patients to update information. Assists in the development and dissemination of the clinic WTCHP newsletter.
- Aids in processing records releases and clinical records management
- Assists with billing for the World Trade Center Health Program. Reviews medical claims for program compliance, accuracy, and completeness.
- Conducts needed data entry for the department. Aids in audit initiatives, under supervision.

- Bachelor's degree required.
- One (1) year of professional experience working in a clinical environment required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat a must.
