About the Role:

The IT infrastructure manager plays a pivotal role within the Information Technology (IT) team responsible for overseeing and maintaining the organization's IT framework and for ensuring that all technological systems function efficiently and reliably. The IT infrastructure manager position is critical to the strategic planning, implementation, and operation of IT infrastructure projects, positioning the company for success in an increasingly digital world. The main purpose of the IT infrastructure manager role is to provide reliable, high quality IT services for the business, supporting IT systems and infrastructure that align with business goals and needs. Reporting directly to the deputy chief information officer, the IT infrastructure manager leads the IT Infrastructure team's efforts to deliver and support a reliable and cost-effective service across the company.


Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the setup, maintenance, and optimization of network systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets, and extranets, ensuring that network security and reliability are paramount.
  • Managing physical and virtual servers to ensure high availability and performance. This includes server installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Integrating and managing cloud services to enhance scalability, flexibility, and cost-efficiency. This includes overseeing cloud storage solutions, virtual networks, and cloud-based applications.
  • Developing and coordinating IT operations and infrastructure.
  • Choosing and deploying the right hardware and software for the organization.
  • Ensuring the security of the organization's networks and systems in coordination with Corporate Information Security.
  • Implementing and maintaining monitoring tools to detect and resolve system performance issues promptly. The includes ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance by troubleshooting problems as they arise.
  • Establishing service level agreements (SLAs) to define the level of service the IT Infrastructure team will provide.
  • Coordinating with external vendors and service providers to procure necessary hardware, software, and services. This includes negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with SLAs.
  • Ensuring that contracts are in place to support the services provided by the IT Infrastructure team.
  • Negotiating access agreements.
  • Leading and managing the IT Infrastructure team, fostering collaboration across departments to ensure that IT solutions align with business needs. This includes providing training and development opportunities for team members.
  • Assisting with preparing the departmental budget and forecasting. This includes estimating, reporting, and controlling costs and ensuring the cost-effective use of resources.
  • Managing the day-today operational and project tasks within the IT Infrastructure team.
  • Managing the IT Infrastructure staff by recruiting and training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring performance.
  • Overseeing the annual IT infrastructure budget and ensuring cost effectiveness.
  • Monitoring daily operations, including server hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Coordinating technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Selecting and purchasing new and replacement hardware and software, when necessary.
  • Overseeing the testing, troubleshooting, and modifying of information systems to operate effectively.
  • Generating performance reports for IT systems and networks.
  • Ensuring that all IT activities are performed within the parameters of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Evaluating technology risks and assisting with developing a network disaster recovery plan and backup procedures.
  • Keeping up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrating a deep technical and strategic understanding of IT services and operations.
  • Managing internal and external communications and serving as the primary contact for the escalation of business issues.
  • Assisting with managing relationships with external organizations and suppliers.


About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Experience managing a team with engineers in various IT-related disciplines.
  • Experience in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and IT service management (ITSM) processes, such as:
  • Service performance management.
  • Critical issues management.
  • Service level management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and databases.
  • Knowledge of Azure networking concepts, including virtual networks, subnets, and network security groups.
  • Knowledge of Azure monitoring and management tools, such as Azure Monitor and Azure Log Analytics.
  • Understanding of Azure security features and best practices for securing cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with Azure backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience creating and maintaining infrastructure using public cloud services, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Azure.
  • Skilled in facilitation and project management.
  • Possesses computer skills, including experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint) or equivalent.


Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Project management professional (PMP) and/or ITIL 4 foundation.
  • ITIL 4 managing professional or strategic leader.
  • Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies (COBIT) 5 foundation.
  • Certified information technology manager (CITM).
  • Microsoft Azure administrator.
  • Cisco certified network professional (CCNP) or CompTIA Network+.


Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field and 10 years of experience leading an operations team in supporting the maintenance and administration of information technology (IT) infrastructure.
  • An equivalent combination of advanced education, training and professional experience will be considered


The target base salary for this position is $121,000 - $166,000 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
