Your Role

Gensler DC's Government practice is growing, and we are looking for a Project Architect to join our team.We provide a wide range of services to our public sector clients (Federal, State and Local government) - from programming and strategic planning to design and implementation of spaces.As a Project Architect in the Workplace Studio, it's your job to lead a team of architects and designers to deliver unparalleled federal base building projects. Leverage your industry experience and technical acumen to drive client projects from concept through build.

What You Will Do

  • Manage multiple aspects of client,team,and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)
  • Manage communication between project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues with team to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions
  • Direct production of drawings,specifications,and construction administration tasks
  • Responsible for oversight and delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical quality
  • Maintain and oversee the project manual and specifications
  • Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews
  • Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI
  • Interface with building andpermittingofficials during the permitting and construction phases of the project
  • Activelyparticipateand contribute to the financial performance of project
  • Review and contribute to proposals and contracts with the Design Manager
  • Ensure projects conform to contract
  • Actively lead teams and mentor junior professionals for the successful delivery of projects
  • Manage client expectations, team communication and oversight of consultant coordination
  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives and learning programs
  • Establish andmaintainongoing, productive client relationships

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited school
  • 7-12 years of project experience in an architectural practice, including demonstrated success with base building and federal projects experience
  • Licensed or registered architect
  • Highly proficient with Revit
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, 3dMax, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures
  • Experience with the entire project lifecycle and design process through post-occupancy
  • Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development
  • A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Collaborative and team-conscious
  • Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships through successful project delivery
  • LEED accreditation preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices; Portfolios should include at least one project (especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification) with this particular focus, which we look forward to discussing during the interview

This is not a remote or hybrid position. The successful candidate will be expected to live in or relocate to the Washington DC area upon acceptance.
