JOB SUMMARY
The Director of IR Strategy Management plays a pivotal role in shaping UT Southwestern Medical Center's future and driving the successful execution of Information Resources' strategic plan. The Director is a dynamic leader who inspires others and achieves success through teamwork. The Director collaborates with executive leadership on strategic planning, fosters collaboration across teams on strategy execution, and ensures the alignment of projects to strategy. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned IT leader with experience in strategic planning, business relationship management, IT Service Management, process improvement, and project management. Strong leadership, strategic foresight, and the ability to drive consensus across complex environments are essential for success in this role.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or other relevant field


  • Experience
    10 years progressively responsible experience in Information Technology
    Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and aligning project objectives with organizational goals
    Experience in project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle


Preferred



  • Education
    Master's Degree in a related field


  • Experience
    Experience with Business Relationship Management and ITIL


JOB DUTIES



  • Strategic Planning:

    • Collaborate with IR executive leadership to develop and refresh the Information Resources strategic plan.
    • Oversee, define, and govern the strategy framework and processes that align with the overall business strategy and objectives.
    • Ensure that all IR units and departments align their activities and initiatives with the IR wide strategic objectives. This involves communicating the strategy across IR and helping various teams understand their role in achieving strategic goals.
    • Partner with IR Leaders to prioritize strategic initiatives. Collaborate with the PMO to manage and monitor strategic projects. The IR Strategy Management Office coordinates and oversees these initiatives to ensure they are in line with the strategic plan and deliver the intended outcomes.
    • Communicate the strategy and progress updates to all levels of IR and the institution. This includes regularly sharing information about strategic direction, milestones, and successes.
    • Gather feedback from various stakeholders, including IR staff and IR constituents, and use this feedback to adapt and refine the strategic plan as needed. The Strategy Management Office plays a key role in facilitating this feedback loop.
    • Ensure that resources, including budget, talent, and technology, are allocated in a way that supports the strategic priorities of the organization.
    • Assist with change management efforts related to the implementation of strategic initiatives. Collaborate and partner with The IR Organizational Change Management Team to help IR staff and IR constituents understand the reasons behind changes and support them in adapting to new processes or systems.
    • Identify potential risks and challenges that could impact the achievement of strategic objectives and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
    • Establish governance structures and processes to oversee the execution of the strategic plan and ensure accountability.
    • Responsible for the IT strategy roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables to support the strategic plan.
    • Monitor and measure progress toward strategic objectives. The director is responsible for tracking KPIs and evaluating whether IT is on track to meet its strategic goals using performance dashboards and reporting.


  • Business Relationship Management:

    • Accountable for the Business Relationship Management practice and processes.
    • Utilize the Business Relationship Management practice to establish and nurture relationships between Information Resources and its constituents at strategic and tactical levels.
    • Assists with the capture and intake of new project ideas and demands.
    • Partner with others in IR to work towards understanding constituents' needs and drivers so that IR can prioritize products and services accordingly. This is to ensure that constituents are satisfied with IR's products and services.


  • Team Leadership:

    • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performance team of Business Relationship Managers and strategy analysts.
    • Provide coaching, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members.
    • Encourage knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Lead the team through positive, strategic, and transformative leadership fostering a culture that is aligned with the core Information Resources principles of Transparency, Respect, Excellence, and Ownership (TREO).
    • Be proactive in identifying tools and techniques and staying current with strategy management trends.
    • Propose solutions to challenging problems. Work to not only see the challenges with others approaches but offer alternative solutions in a professional and objective manner.
