This Position reports to:

Director of R&D - Engineer To Order

As a co-op, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The work model for the role is onsite in Greenville, South Carolina.

Please note that no relocation assistance or stipend will be offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office location. Candidates are expected to manage their own commuting arrangements.

You will be mainly accountable for:
Research and Development Engineering Mechanical Co-op Engineer for Medium AC, Specialty and Variable Speed AC motors. Co-op engineer would work directly with mechanical engineers to support product development and testing of electric motors.
Main Responsibilities/Duties:
1. Support development of custom motor product 10-2000 HP for three manufacturing locations.
The primary tool of use is SolidWorks.
2. Work closely with senior development engineers to model new products.
3. Support product development testing.
4. Capable of learn basics of design and testing of electric motors.
5. Co-op engineer is expected to complete 3 semesters with ABB at the CUICAR location.

Education:
Be in Sophomore year degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Level of Experience: No prior work experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
1. Experience with SolidWorks, or other modeling tools is required.
2. Strong team skills are required, but must also be able to work independently.
3. Good communication skills to work with other on the engineering team.
4. Experience with Word, and Excel is a plus.

The hourly rate is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications, graduation year and experience. This position is expected to pay between $20 - $34 per hour.
