Description

Salary range is $65k to $150k, with a midpoint of $105k. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The general purpose of a Software Developer I - ServiceNow is to design, develop, and implement technical solutions within the ServiceNow platform to meet the organization's business needs. Leveraging their expertise in ServiceNow, they work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements, and drive the customization and configuration of the platform. This includes creating workflows, writing scripts, integrating with other systems, and developing user interfaces as required. They also ensure the platform's performance and reliability, troubleshoot issues, and maintain system documentation. As part of their role, they stay up-to-date with ServiceNow's latest features and capabilities, providing guidance and recommendations to enhance service management processes and improve overall organizational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for managing daily operations of the ServiceNow platform and implementing enhancements to meet business requirements.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs, and then design, develop, and implement solutions within the platform, accordingly, including customizing and configuring the platform accordingly.
  • Monitor the platform's performance, resolve technical issues, and update system configurations as needed.
  • Ensure that the ServiceNow platform operates effectively and continually improves to better support business operations.
  • Handle incoming incident reports, diagnose problems, and implement solutions to restore normal service operations as quickly as possible.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to coordinate response efforts, track incident resolutions, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Minimize the impact of incidents on business operations and to ensure the optimal performance of the ServiceNow platform.
  • Design and develop solutions on the ServiceNow platform to meet business requirements.
  • Customizing ServiceNow modules, developing workflows, or integrating with other systems.
  • Contributes to the strategic development of the ServiceNow platform by understanding business needs and translating them into effective ServiceNow solutions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and use their technical expertise to design and implement these improvements within the platform.
  • Champions and models Sound Transit's core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or closely related field and four years of ServiceNow development or related experience; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Licenses or Certifications:



  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator Certification.


Preferred Licenses or Certifications:



  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation Certification.


Required Knowledge and Skills:



  • Deep understanding of the ServiceNow platform, its architecture, and its capabilities.
  • Proficiency in various ServiceNow modules such as Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Service Catalog, and more.
  • Experience with ServiceNow upgrade processes and maintaining system stability during upgrades.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow's best practices and how to apply them in different organizational contexts.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow APIs for integrations with other systems.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, the primary scripting language used in ServiceNow.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and AngularJS for customizing ServiceNow interfaces.
  • Ability to write, test, debug, and maintain scripts to enhance functionality and automation in ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of developing and customizing ServiceNow applications.
  • Understanding of ServiceNow's database structure and its impact on script development.
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement automated workflows within ServiceNow.
  • Strong understanding of business process modeling and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience in automating business processes using ServiceNow's orchestration capabilities.
  • Ability to optimize and enhance workflows for improved performance and user experience.
  • Proficiency in using ServiceNow's Flow Designer and Integration Hub for automation tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, gather requirements, and explain technical details.
  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with developers, administrators, and business users.
  • Experience in providing training and support for ServiceNow users.
  • Skills in documenting technical processes, user guides, and system design specifications.
  • Proven ability to align ServiceNow solutions with business objectives and strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues.
  • Experience in performing root cause analysis for ServiceNow system issues.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and issues.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing incident reports, change requests, and problem records in ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow's error logs and debugging processes.
