Job Objective:

The Finance Manager is responsible for the development, management, and operations of the finance department as assigned with a focus on maintaining stewardship of all the financial activity with regards to resources and money.

- Responsible for monthly balance sheet review and reconciliations of liability accounts

- Responsible for Ledger review and submitting posting corrections with full backup.

- Manage TSAMM submission for Finance related matters

- Monitors compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and The Salvation Army Accounting processes and procedures.

- Perform fiscal management duties including generating and compiling financial data, submitting reports, analyzing trends, and the overall financial health of the center.

- Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for Administration.

- Create and review departmental policies and regularly assess financial procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.

- Recruiting and training of new employees

- Prepare and file sales tax returns on a monthly basis

- Assist internal auditor with audit preparations as needed

- Assist Administration with budget preparations as needed and enter budget information in accounting system.

- Work with ARC Command Center Accountant to ensure timely month end & year end closing, submitting all requested information in a timely manner.

- Assists Administration with annual center review preparations

- Oversight of all inventories for all center owned facilities

- Manage center cash flow

- Maintain center banking records and documentation

- All other duties as assigned

Finance Manager will oversee the following tasks and complete if/when necessary:

- Manage tracking and accounting of store and surplus sales

- Review and initiate check printing for accounts payable

- Assist with budget development and review

- Support Finance Staff as they provide reports to Command Staff, Administrators, Department Heads, Internal and External auditors (including nut not limited to month end reports, rag sale reports, store reports, gratuity, pension, etc)

- Create weekly financial snapshot

- Assist with Grant process

- Assist with credit card disputes, store refunds, sales tax calculation, etc

- Assist with the supervision of on line data organization

Skills/Abilities:

- The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

- Superior written and oral communications skills

- Ability to read, write, and interpret data

- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

- Ability to perform mathematical and accounting operations to complete required daily tasks

- Excellent time management, decision making and organizational skills

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervises processes and employees within the finance department

Computer Skills:

Proficient computer skills including but not limited to the use of accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret financial reports as well as write routine reports. Must be able to speak and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, vendors, and beneficiaries based on the assumption that such individuals "can only speak and understand English".

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense in understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Working Conditions:

Work is mostly performed in a typical office environment but at time will be in a warehouse or store environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. The environment may be dusty and may experience temperature fluctuations based on weather. This is a Full-time Exempt position; may require some weekend and evening work.
