Starting Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

The Emerging Technology Analyst will work across departments to research and analyze emerging technology trends. This includes helping to create technology radars and identify use cases for future prototypes. The role will also partner closely with our Research & Development and Strategy teams to stay informed on shifts in the utility industry and ensure that proposed use cases align with MISO's evolving business needs. In addition, the analyst will collaborate with external partners to support and promote MISO's technological advancement.

What You'll Do as our Emerging Technology Analyst:



  • Investigate emerging technologies (e.g., AI, blockchain, quantum computing, AR/VR, IoT), analyze trends, and evaluate current IT systems to identify opportunities and potential business impact.
  • Develop and maintain a technology radar and trendspotting framework to prioritize emerging technologies and anticipate future changes in the energy industry.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements, design a backlog of prototype use cases, and assist in planning and executing prototype development.
  • Produce reports, white papers, and presentations to communicate technology performance, insights, and recommendations to various audiences.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams and stakeholders to align technology development with business needs, leveraging familiarity with cloud, AI/ML, data analytics, and other contemporary technologies.


What You'll Bring as our Emerging Technology Analyst:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience (required).
  • Prior experience in technology analysis, consulting, or a similar role, with exposure to emerging technologies.
  • At least two (2) years' experience in a technology analyst, research, or innovation-focused role.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, AI/ML concepts, data analytics, and other contemporary technology areas
  • Exposure to agile methodologies and product development
  • Prior experience in innovation labs, R & D teams, or startup ecosystems
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Java a plus
  • Familiarity with GitHub preferred


Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
