About the Role:

As a business analyst in the Modernization and Data Solutions Practice Area, you will collaborate with team members to conceptualize, deliver, and support our clients through today's ever-changing healthcare landscape.

Serving as a business analyst, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will include supporting healthcare technology initiatives for our clients, partners, and stakeholders - primarily by applying strong business analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to our healthcare projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create project documentation.
  • Update presentation materials.
  • Collaborate with NYSTEC colleagues to propose and build solutions by conducting research, gathering requirements, and designing and developing resources to meet the client's needs.
  • Assess policies and procedures to identify programmatic requirements and business rules that will inform policy and program decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and challenges.
  • Elicit, document, trace, and prioritize business requirements.
  • Document user stories/requirements that address project business objectives.
  • Compile and synthesize analyses and findings into reports and other client deliverables (e.g., process flows, data flows, system architectures, context diagrams, and use cases).
  • Anticipate and communicate issues/risks.
  • Exhibit excellent writing, documentation, communication, and analytical skills to meet project goals.


About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Health information technology (HIT) and/or health information exchange (HIE) experience.
  • Experience as a business analyst within healthcare, Medicaid, or other public sector programs, policies, or systems.
  • Experience with system development life cycle (SDLC) activities to manage, plan, design, implement, test, and deliver information systems and strategies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships with stakeholders and understand their needs.


Preferred/Desired Qualifications



  • Master's degree in business, technical or similar discipline.
  • Experience with HIT projects.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in business, technical or similar discipline and five years of related experience. An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.


The salary range for this position is $79,793.00 to $109,716.00 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
