Job Summary

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is currently seeking a talented, highly motivated individual to serve as Senior Data Engineer for the County's applications. The Sr. Data Engineer will be responsible for architecting and building solutions that support enterprise information management, business intelligence, and machine learning across the organization.
Specific job requirements include:
* Work with various departments/business users and application teams to gather functional and non-functional requirements as well as design, build and deploy end-to-end data solutions across various environments based on technical specifications.
* Evaluating new data sources for acquisition and integration.
* Design and implementation for data migration from legacy systems to new platforms.
* Optimize and tune existing data pipelines for performance and reliability.
* Proficient in Microsoft SQL Database Management and Administration.
* Working with Data Warehouses and Data Lakes.
* Gather business insights through advanced analytics including, but not limited to, predictive analysis based on patterns and trends.
* Keep data separated and secure based on Data Governance guidelines.
* Performing root cause analysis on data processes to meet business requirements. Identify opportunities for improvement for existing data processes.
* Articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks.

Minimum Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
* Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related field and at least four years of experience supporting Data Engineering initiatives.
* The job would require strong SQL/Python programming skills and analytical skills.
* Excellent analytical and technical skills
* Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills
* Any certification or work related to Database management is highly desirable.
* Experience in Python and AWS Cloud offerings is preferable. Technical expertise in legacy database environments and SQL server is strongly preferred.
* Experience with PowerBI is preferable.
* Experience with Oracle a plus.
* Experience in using various modelling tools such as TOAD and Microsoft Visio is preferable.
