Overview
The Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is seeking an Airport Maintenance Worker II for Morrisville/Stowe State Airport (MVL) in Morrisville, VT. This is a mission critical position with responsibilities that include keeping the Morrisville State Airport safely operating in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and State of Vermont regulations. Airport Maintenance Workers are required to undergo extensive training in airport operations to work on an airfield. Following necessary training, the Airport Maintenance Worker at MVL will be working independently at this location without immediate or direct support from other personnel. A candidate for this position may be required to work extensive overtime in some situations to meet the needs described above, including weekends and holidays. This position is classified as an Aviation Maintenance Worker II by the Department of Human Resources. Who May Apply

Work is performed both in a facility and primarily in the field. Duties require exposure to extreme outdoor weather. An incumbent must be available for considerable overtime during heavy snowfall or other emergencies. Employees may be required to report to work outside of their work schedule and must be reachable by phone. An employee must be able to use tools and lift materials commonly used in routine maintenance work. Normal dangers associated with work on or near heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and responding to accidents, emergencies and natural disasters are present. May be exposed to blood and airborne pathogens. Participation in a random drug and alcohol-testing program is required. Travel throughout the state to various airports may be required. Stress may be involved in negotiating and obtaining compliance with contracts, tenants and users. Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of transportation maintenance or construction experience INCULDING BOTH one season or more of operating a snow plow with or without wings AND six months or more of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, rollers, and backhoes. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in inventory or store control and lighting and electrical. Special Requirements
Complete Vermont State Aeronautics Training program within the first 6 months of employment. An incumbent must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation. Total Compensation
