Survey Technician

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a member of a survey party engaged in advanced technical work involving the operation of manual and electronic equipment to collect surveying data for preliminary, construction, final, or other related surveys for engineering purposes. As a Survey Technician, you will perform technical activities required for measuring exact locations of points and areas relating to the engineering needs as requested by the other units in the district. This professional operates and maintains advanced or standard surveying equipment and electronic instruments which may include electronic total stations, automatic and digital levels, data collectors, laptop computers, GPS equipment, and other equipment needed to perform, record, and process survey data. You will also plan project reconnaissance using Google Earth and PennDOT videolog, in addition to making field decisions regarding location and recording of traverse points and topography points.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,890.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or
• One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
