Overview

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a Marketing Specialist to join our team! The Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing standardized marketing practices, advertising strategies, and public relations campaigns that support Illinois CancerCare's organizational goals-specifically focusing on increasing patient referrals. This role also provides internal marketing support across departments to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment.

In addition, the Marketing Specialist will plan and execute relationship-building initiatives with referring providers and healthcare systems to strengthen external partnerships and enhance awareness of Illinois CancerCare.

Salary Pay Range: $45,000 to $70,000

Responsibilities

  • Perform marketing and sales activities for an assigned geographic area to achieve or exceed assigned objectives. Uses consultative selling skills, initiates contact with non-oncology physicians and key staff to engage customers, source needs, and recommend service solutions in order to market USON affiliated Practice*s oncology services and increase the number of new oncology patient referrals.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians and other healthcare providers. Implements sales, marketing, and outreach plans, presentations, and strategies designed to develop incremental referrals, new referral relationships, and meet customer needs.
  • Establish and maintain scalable processes that ensure best practices in physician referral management.
  • Identify potential market opportunities and devise plans to deliver appropriate messaging to increase market share.
  • Design marketing campaigns and materials.
  • Create and maintain metric reports on marketing and referral effectiveness and business impact.
  • Identify external marketing opportunities to build awareness and drive community engagement. Partner with the Manager, Foundation and Community Events on community practice clinic events.
  • Design and execute a relevant social media presence, maintain Illinois CancerCare website in partnership with Internal Marketing and Social Media Manager.
  • Work with internal staff on Illinois CancerCare materials including letterhead, business cards, giveaways, recruiting pieces, speaking engagements, announcements, crisis communications, etc.
  • Content production including articles, videos, and podcasts.
  • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met while adhering to approved budgets.
  • Proficiency in all department processes.
  • Must be available to work evening and weekend committee meetings, events and programs.
  • Perform all other duties as requested.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires sitting at desk for extensive periods of time.
  • Loading, unloading, setup and teardown of event materials.
  • Requires lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Requires periodic bending, reaching, squatting, stooping.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS/TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The employee has limited exposure to toxic substance and is expected to be familiar with the dangers and proper handling of such.
  • The employee is exposed to communicable diseases and other conditions common to the clinical environment.
  • Safety policies and good health practices are to be understood and observed.
  • Work is performed in an office environment with frequent contact with staff and patients.
  • Work may be repetitious, and in a high-stress environment.
  • Contact may involve dealing with angry and/or upset people.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous experience working in the healthcare industry preferred.
