Division Controller

Overview:

Responsible for managing the daily activities in the accounting department. Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manages the day-to-day functions of the accounting department.
  • Supervises the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Directs and participates in the review for month-end and year-end closings.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
  • Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, job costing, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses.
  • Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate proposals.
  • Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
  • Oversees internal controls involving accounting functions.
  • Establishes system and security controls for Accounting and Payroll software.
  • Assists in the preparation of external audit materials, external financial reporting and income tax reporting.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls.
  • Works with operations on analysis of contract margins.
  • Assistants in bank cash management administration and reporting.
  • Manages on-line credit card administration.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises Accounts Payable Supervisor, Payroll Manager, and Staff Accountants.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • At least 7 years of accounting experience.
  • Government contract accounting experience required, including in depth knowledge of FAR and DCAA.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have advanced knowledge and ability to manipulate data and spreadsheets, such as Excel.
  • Experience with Sage Accounting software preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including Word, Excel, Access and E-mail business software. Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a Team.
  • Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision. Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • CPA or CMA designation required.

Work Environment:

General office environment. Some travel both domestically and internationally required based on business demands.
