OVERVIEW: The Senior Credit Analyst for Customer Financial Services (CFS) is responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of new and existing customers, managing credit risk, and ensuring timely collections. This role involves analyzing financial data, reviewing and preparing credit reports, and collaborating with internal teams to maintain the health of the accounts receivable portfolio. The Senior Credit Analyst will also implement strategies to reduce overdue receivables and enhance cash flow. RESPONSIBILITIES: Credit Risk Assessment:
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.
- Develop and implement credit policies, procedures, and credit limits to ensure consistent credit management.
- Conduct periodic reviews of customer accounts to determine ongoing credit limits and risk exposure.
Accounts Receivable Management:
- Oversee the accounts receivable aging reports to ensure timely collections and the identification of potential risks.
- Work closely with key customer contacts to resolve overdue accounts, ensuring that payment terms and policies are followed.
- Monitor customer accounts for changes in payment behavior and adjust credit terms as necessary.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present regular reports on accounts receivable aging, credit risk exposure, and collections status to management.
- Identify trends in payment delays and work with sales and finance teams to address underlying causes.
- Analyze and report on the effectiveness of credit and collections strategies, recommending improvements when necessary.
- Investigate and analyze root causes of delayed payments, including billing errors, purchase order discrepancies and other potential issues.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Act as a liaison between the finance, sales, and customer service teams to ensure proper credit approval and account management.
- Work with legal teams to take action on high-risk accounts or those requiring legal intervention.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve customer disputes affecting payment terms and timelines.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers while ensuring adherence to credit policies and payment schedules.
- Proactively communicate with customers to ensure timely payments and address any potential issues before they escalate.
Continuous Improvement:
- Recommend improvements to internal credit and collections processes to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve cash flow.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in credit risk management.
Compliance & Controls:
- Adhere to department processes and guidelines
- Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements regarding credit management.
- Assist in periodic internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and data to support related inquiries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting
- 5-7 years' experience in FP&A, Accounting, Credit /Accounts Receivable areas
- CPG industry experience
- Strong MS Excel/PowerPoint and SAP (or similar system) experience required
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Strong organizational, follow-through and decision-making skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Strong business analytics skills and must be able to work and problem solve both independently and within a collaborative environment
- Very strong communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with customer and key internal stakeholders, (Sales, Supply Chain, Customer Service)
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
