As an HVAC Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering best-in-class customer service by designing efficient HVAC systems for residential and light commercial applications. This role combines technical expertise with customer interaction, ensuring HVAC system designs are code-compliant, accurate, and aligned with client needs. You will also respond to product-related inquiries and provide support with design specifications, product recommendations, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

    Develop HVAC system layouts using AutoCAD for residential and light commercial projects.
  • Perform comprehensive heat loss and heat gain calculations.
  • Recommend appropriate HVAC equipment based on project specifications.
  • Design ductwork and piping layouts in accordance with state and local codes.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to deliver timely and accurate design solutions.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from customers or internal sales team, providing guidance on product applications, system design, and equipment compatibility.
  • Offer creative solutions that meet both customer requirements and company objectives.
  • Recommend alternative products and services tailored to customer needs.
  • Support the sales team by participating in customer meetings and product demonstrations.
  • Gather competitive intelligence and identify opportunities to enhance product offerings or address market needs.
  • Participate in internal sales meetings and contribute to promotional strategy as needed.
  • Attend relevant training sessions and maintain certifications required for the role.
  • Keep records as required
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in HVAC Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of HVAC design experience, ideally in residential or light commercial settings.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or HVAC Design Stamp certification required.
  • Ability to submit designs for the state of Wisconsin required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and HVAC design software.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC principles, equipment, and local/state codes.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
