The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that crucial aspects of the production department are met in a safe, efficient, timely, and cost effective manner. Planning, coordinating, communicating, and controlling are major responsibilities of this position. This position (Shift Supervisor) works a rotating shift schedule with a crew training, directing, and supervising the Production Technicians assigned so that they can safely and efficiently process raw material into marketable, on-spec product by operating the plant's equipment and by controlling the chemical production process. This position has a direct impact upon organizational success by influencing production quantity, quality, and cost, and by protecting the company resources -- human, material, and physical. The Production Supervisor must have a thorough understanding of the plant processes and equipment in order to enable him to embrace safety and environmental stewardship as a core value of leadership.

Embraces safety and environmental stewardship as a core value of leadership.Directly responsible for promoting company relations and employee moral through effective communication. Fosters a culture of safety and environmental excellence by providing a work environment that promotes the identification and mitigation of hazards and supports near miss and incident reporting. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant during startup, normal operation, and shut down conditions. Ensures that all technicians thoroughly understand and adhere to safe operating procedures, safe work habits, housekeeping procedures, and emergency response procedures. Investigates and follows up on neighbor complaints administering the plant procedures effectively. Acts as the Incident Commander when executing the plant's emergency response procedures. Develops and maintains effective employee relationships with other departments to obtain the required assistance in meeting departmental objectives. Develops and maintains effective employee relations. Performs the administrative tasks associated with supervising Production Technicians, i.e., timesheets, absence, overtime scheduling, corrective disciplinary actions, performance appraisals and interviews, training, policy/procedure administration, and team building. Document and maintain good records of functions in his/her area of responsibility. Ensures that a complete and thorough skill, knowledge, and understanding transfer occur between the Supervisor and the Technician. Train and develop process technicians into fully qualified operators capable of assuming the position of operations supervisor and controlling the plant. Provides leadership and direction to the Production Technicians with advice, guidance, and expertise in operating procedure, technique, troubleshooting, and problem solving. Ensures all routine tasks, including readings, minor maintenance, inspections and reports are accomplished in a safe, timely, and accurate fashion. Analyzes near-term operating problems and takes appropriate corrective action. Mobilizes quickly without acting impulsively, and exercises good judgment. Follows specific instructions and procedures but also able to act on one's own initiative. Works independently and under conditions of high interdependency. Establishes and implements processes and procedures to meet departmental internal controls requirements. Ensures that established processes/procedures are followed as designed. Works with Internal Controls Department to identify deficiencies in existing processes/procedures, the need for new ones, and the extent to which such processes/procedures are being followed. Develops and implements corrective actions with regard to department internal controls as necessary. Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma and/or 5+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing facility. Effective leadership skills. Solid communication skills including the ability to effectively converse in English, compose written documents and interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
