Position Summary |
The Career & Employment Center (
CEC) supports Student Employment Services, Corporate Services/Lifelong Learning, and Gateway to College operations including on/off campus employment, corporate training, non-credit enrichment courses, and high school completion programming.
These functions require administrative, technical, and operational support and duties. The
CEC administrative support employee must possess high level administrative skills including, but not limited to, time management, organizational skills, and priority setting while adhering to strict confidentiality standards. The employee in this administrative support role must possess a high level of computer competency skills to support functions of the area.
All
CEC Administrative Support employees are expected to perform as a cross-trained team to provide additional assistance and/or serve as a back-up to all employees during breaks, lunch, absences or extended leave. This will require regular cross-training and maintaining updated job-aides for processes and procedures.
The Career & Employment Center (
CEC) includes Student Employment Services, Corporate Services/Lifelong Learning, and Gateway to College. The person in this role supports these areas to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects. |
Minimum Requirements |
- Associate Degree or four years of related administrative experience.
- Two years of prior related office experience; such experience to include independent decision-making, problem solving, coordination of responsibilities, and the ability to function effectively in a complex high-pressure, high-volume environment.
- Basic level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint with expectation to gain proficiency in campus-wide required computer system applications as they are implemented.
- Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills. Ability to manage large amounts of information and files, with an attention to detail. Responsible for working and managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills and exercise appropriate judgment.
- Functions as a motivated self-starter that takes initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills including grammatical skills and demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively in both the spoken and written word.
- Ability to work as part of a cross-trained team, and to deal with students, faculty, staff and public with knowledge, tact and courtesy.

Additional Desirable Qualifications |
- Three years of office experience in a higher education setting.
- Prior work experience in a college environment.
- Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions |
- Sedentary at times.
- Ability to operate all standard computer hardware and software.
- Ability to move around the office and the campus so as to carry out the essential duties of the job.

Work Schedule |
Full-time regular position which supports a division with regular operational hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Position requires
ability and willingness to work varying hours, including nights and weekends, to meet the operational needs of the department. |
