Spectra Tech is immediately looking for a Jr. RCT in Mercury, NV.

GENERAL RCT RESPONSIBILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Under limited supervision, Subcontractor shall perform work, monitor working conditions, and remains cognizant of the current radiological status of work locations.
  • Knowledge of radiological safety topics as established in 10 CFR 835.
  • Completion of biennial requalification training which includes written examination, performance demonstrations and/or oral board.
  • Ability to perform pre-job radiological briefings to field staff.
  • Implements the requirements of Radiological Work Permits (RWPs), the Nevada National Security Site Radiological Control Manual, procedures and related work control documents.
  • Maintains the knowledge and skill needed to maintain U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) NNSS RCT qualification.

Jr. RCT:

  • Performs low-risk or routine work with limited oversight.
  • Performs Sr/Mid RCT functions under direct oversight of a qualified Sr/Mid RCT.
  • Provide the maintenance of accurate records of radiological survey efforts and radiological conditions under Sr/RCT direction.
  • Under Sr/RCT direction, takes immediate action to respond to radiological off-normal conditions and to stabilize the situation.

QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school education or equivalency
  • Fundamental knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and science
  • Reading, writing, and comprehension
  • Fundamental computer skills, i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, email, etc.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship
  • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER (or refresher) training
  • Training equivalent to DOE Radiological Worker II training.

Jr. RCT:

  • Formal training from a recognized organization in Radiological fundamentals
  • Current DOE Core Academics Qualification

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work will be conducted in the field where physical effort may be required, up to and not limited to lifting, bending, reaching, standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Overtime will be required to complete the assigned task.
  • Physical Qualifications include the ability to:
  1. pass a medical examination to drive, handle or respond to incidents involving hazardous materials
  2. wear personal protective clothing and equipment
  3. wear respiratory protection
  4. lift 50 pounds
  5. work in hazardous waste areas
  6. perform extended sitting, bending, kneeling, and walking
  7. work in remote locations
  8. work in extreme weather conditions; wind, rain, and snow, i.e. outdoor temperatures > 115 oF and < 0 oF
