Job Summary:

The Quality and Breast Care Coordinator performs and evaluates all quality control testing for imaging equipment and also fulfills the clinical functions of a Mammography Technologist II. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with MQSA, ACR, and state regulatory agencies and for the MIF, LLC Risk Management Program.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Develops and monitors quality control procedures for all mammography imaging equipment located within MIF, LLC.
  • Performs weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semiannual quality control testing and evaluation within MIF, LLC to ensure equipment is operating within manufacturer's, ACR, and MQSA specifications and images produced are of highest quality, including compression testing, stereotactic quality testing, maintains repeat rate analysis and testing and image quality review. Provides a monthly written summary to include quarterly, semiannual, and annual testing results to leadership.
  • Coordinates annual preventive maintenance schedule of all mammographic and DEXA equipment across MIF LLC and assists service representatives in repair and maintenance of equipment within MIF, LLC.
  • Maintains all state certifications for equipment and coordinates annual physicist inspections and other inspections as required.
  • Participates in and submits images for the ACR Mammography and MSQA accreditation processes.
  • Prepares and maintains technique charts for each piece of equipment located at MIF, LLC locations. Monitors these charts for changes and modifications if needed.
  • Prepares patients for mammography examinations. Performs screening and diagnostic mammography examinations/procedures, bone densitometry procedures, needle localizations, and stereotactic breast biopsy procedures on all patient age groups and maintains clinical competency.
  • Maintains information and documentation regarding patient exposure evaluation program.
  • Monitors and maintains a follow-up program for reporting mammography results to patients and providers, including contacting all patients for whom additional views or procedures are recommended.
  • Provides benign pathological results directly to patients and provides results for patients with suspicious findings for cancer to the referring physician within 24 hours of receipt of the pathology report. Sends out 45-day reminder letters to physicians if patients have not followed up on the mammography recommendations.
  • Maintains documentation of biopsy results, unresolved lists, and certified mailings to patients and physicians. Validates the mammography Result letters daily making sure the Physician and patient's information is correct. Validates the mammography Reminder letters twice a week making sure the physician and patient's information is correct.
  • Reports, records, and files patient information and procedural data in order to bill for services.
  • Maintains all credentials pertaining to mammography for all personnel in accordance with ACR and MQSA. Completes the ICW, NSICW, MIKG, and MILH Mammography Medical Audit on a quarterly basis.
  • Coordinates technologist schedule with Mammography Supervisor. Works with leadership to maintain workflow and throughput.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities for the Mammography department. Provides real time feedback to technical staff regarding quality issues. Participates in monthly staffing meetings to provide updates to staff.
  • Supports the MWHC School of Radiologic Technology and the Mammography cross-training program. Provides oversight and instruction of students.
  • Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Participates in breast cancer education and screening activities for the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology required.
  • ARRT membership and ARRT (M) registry in Mammography required.
  • AHA BLS ProviderCPR required.
  • Minimum of three years' experience with quality control testing procedures required.
  • Working knowledge of ACR, MQSA regulations and requirements required.
  • Computer knowledge including spreadsheet software preferred.
