POSITION REPORTS TO:

Department Manager/Production Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Slitter Machine Operator is solely responsible for operation of the Slitter Machines. Associate operates the Slitter machine maintaining Safety, Quality and Productivity goals and 5s targets for the area, and is measured by Safety Goals, Quality Goals, Productivity Goals and 5s conditions within the Cable Management area.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Follow Plant Safety Rules
  2. Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out Procedure
  3. Maintain 5S Conditions Around Work Area
  4. Follow 4G Fabric Temperature Measurement Procedure
  5. Maintain Slit Cake Core Inventory at Levels Sufficient for Operation
  6. Maintain Slit Cake Inventory to Meet Needs of the Sew Lines
  7. Manual Adjustments of Hot Knives During Set-Up
  8. Load Roll Goods onto Slitter Frame via Hoist
  9. Doff Slit Roll Goods Using Hoist
  10. Complete Daily Scrap Form Consistently
  11. Complete Daily Production Reporting Sheet Consistently
  12. Report Downtime Accurately
  13. Report Production Results in Real Time via SAP Desktop
  14. Complete Changeovers in a Timely Manner between Fabric Styles
  15. Troubleshoot machine issues and adjust settings to optimize slitting
  16. Using SAP, Ticket Finish Goods Accordingly
  17. Other Duties as Assigned
  18. Attend team meetings.
  19. Participate as leader in plant activities (i.e. OFI, MQSP, M.O.C.)
  20. Understand the environmental impacts and aspects of job-related activities. Follow established Valway and Milliken & Company guidelines concerning use of all chemicals. Comply with all Environmental regulations and Milliken Environmental Policies and Rules.
  21. Perform any other duties assigned by Production Manager or Senior Production Manager as necessary.

General Duties:

  1. Pick up Supplies from Supply Room as needed
  2. Maintain all storage areas in a clean, neat, and organized manner compliant with 5S Standard
  3. Properly stack, strap and store all waste as per procedure. Waste Yarn, Slitter waste, Cardboard, and Pallet waste.
  4. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to use computer

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • GED or High School Diploma

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read and write
  • The ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to comprehend written/verbal instruction
  • Computer data entry skills
  • Ability to operate a lift truck safely and efficiently
  • Ability to adhere to all plant safety specifications
  • Ability to work as a team member with little supervision

1. Standing: Ability to stand while working up to 11 hrs/day 90% of day

  1. Sitting:Ability to sit down while operating mobile equipment 10% of day
  1. Moving:Ability to move throughout plant and move tape carts 40% of day
  1. Lifting:Ability tolift upto70lbs. 5% of day
  1. Ascending/Descending:Ability to walk upstairs 5% of day
  1. Push/Pull/Reach:Ability to push/pull fabric rolls,Boxes and fabric pallets (approx. 1500lbs) 10% of day
  1. Bending:Ability to pick up objects from the floor, pack boxes 50% of day
  1. Visual Acuity:Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties,

including reading information from printed sources and

computer screens. 100% of day

9. Cognitive:Alert. Able to make decisions, reason, and understand

information. 100% of day

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION

This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud. Temperatures can be more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity level can be more than 98% for 100% of day.

SHIFT/WORK HOURS

Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demand.

5 to 5 (rotating 12 hrs/day) Monday - Friday
