18 Position Summary
The Supervisor Energy Technical Services is responsible for supervising the System Protection Technical Services department to successfully achieve the goals and accountabilities of the section. The System Protection Crew is responsible for maintaining the integrity and reliability of CPS Energy Generation, Transmission, and Distribution systems by maintaining, testing, troubleshooting and repairing protective schemes and their components that monitor these power systems 24 hours a day. This position ensures the System Protection Crew maintains a high level of safety, reliability, and compliance with NERC/ERCOT regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for providing onsite field verification and auditing of 1) technician safety practices to ensure technicians are working safely within CPS Energy requirements and guidelines and 2) verification that technician commissioning and maintenance practices follow CPS Energy requirements and guidelines. Tasks and Responsibilities
Minimum Skills Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
A thorough understanding of the operation and practices of Transmission, Distribution, and Generation Systems
Proven experience in the commissioning, preventative maintenance testing, and troubleshooting of protective relaying systems and associated equipment, to include Transmission, Distribution, and Generation systems ranging from 345kV to 4160V
Valid Class C Texas Driver's License with ability to maintain a license and a safe driving record history that complies with CPS policies, procedures, safety standards and applicable state laws and regulations
NERC/CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation/Critical Infrastructure Protection) approved background checks, training, and continuing education in guidelines, standards, and policies
Thorough knowledge of CPS Energy safety practices and procedures
Excellent communication skills and the ability to prepare and present presentation in front of a group
Ability to make sound judgments and stay composed in pressure situations
Ability to lead by example and follow current guidelines and procedures
Ability to work with technicians for training and assessment of skill sets and work attributes
Ability to follow directive
Personal computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of CPS Energy's administrative policies
Knowledge of NERC and ERCOT protocols and requirements
Ability to work late is required in order accomplish a task or complete a deadline Preferred Qualifications

Attained the position of Technician System Protection 3 at CPS Energy and/or equivalent work experience and/or Technical/Engineering Degree Required Certifications Working Environment
This position is comprised of both indoor work and outdoor work. Work is conducted both in the office and in the field in both substations and power plants, in hot and cold weather, and noisy and dusty environments.
Having manual dexterity, able to communicate with co-workers and other departments and be able to use various types of test equipment.
Ability to travel to and from substations, power plants, meetings, training sessions or other business related events. After hours work is required when necessary. Physical Demands
Ability to lift 55 pounds, and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
This job requires climbing ladders and equipment, carrying heavy equipment, moving including up and down stairs, and in hot and cold environments. This work can be done in an energized environment and in some cases at high elevations.
