Position summary: Responsible for various tasks and projects to enhance their experience in the field utilizing their education.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Provide input on solutions to problems using basic theories and engineering fundamentals
  • Assist with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects
  • Assist Survey Party Chief or SUE Party Chief in the field
  • Aissist in maintaining accurate and current project documentation
  • Enter data into computer-based systems
  • Coordinate new small-scale project
  • Assemble data and research
  • Assist with administrative duties


Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • Full time student in engineering
  • Valid Driver's License

    • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening




Preferred Experience



  • Coursework in related field
  • Previous internship experience
  • Working knowledge of relevant technical software
  • Field instrumentation, GPS, and total station experience



Working Conditions

Work could be performed within a general office environment or an outdoor field environment. Work requires using hammers or other appropriate tools. Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 30 lbs. over rough terrain may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms, speak, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. Able to get in and out of vehicle multiple times a day; travel multiple miles daily. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee works outside in all types of weather conditions, possibly for extended periods of time. The terrain may be rough, steep, wet, or swampy. Vegetation may be dense, and insects, snakes or animals may be encountered.
