Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Gateway Internal Communications/Education Engagement Specialist on the Human Space Flight Technical Integration (HSFTIC) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

Our primary government work is with NASA and is conducted at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX and the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL. Responsibilities

Barrios Technologies seeks a Gateway Internal Communications/Education Engagement Specialist to be part of a strategic communications team charged with communicating the progress, milestones, and story of humanity's first space station to orbit the Moon - Gateway.

This role will work closely with the Gateway Program's external and internal strategic communications professionals and NASA's Public Affairs Office. This is a Houston-based position. Candidates need to provide a current resume, samples of prior work, and salary history.

The position will manage and support Gateway internal employee engagement activities and educational outreach initiatives, including coordination of associated messaging, exhibits, collateral, graphics, and staffing.

Specific tasks may include but are not limited to the following areas:

    Create and manage the internal program Monthly Newsletter, inclusive of monthly leadership message
  • Lead planning, coordination, and execution of the internal Town Halls, site-wide events, and employee engagement activities
  • Lead educational engagement, events, and activities in coordination with the Office of STEM Engagement
  • Coordinate on-site internal Program artwork, graphics, and signage
  • Manage Program collateral by tracking, and ordering: patches, pins, stickers, tabletop models
  • Support on-site tours as needed as part of the larger communications team
  • Oversee Program's communication interns
  • Support, as needed, public engagement as part of the greater Program communications team with an emphasis on education

Required Education/ Expereince/Skills:

  • BS/BA degree in communications, journalism, or a related field with minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills as well as integration, coordination, and presentation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to write and edit in AP Style, and an ability to learn about and adapt to emerging communications platforms is a must
  • Engage with the general public and internal teams to communicate information with knowledge and enthusiasm for the NASA Gateway Program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment to perform assigned tasks

Preferred Education/ Expereince/Skills:

  • Experience working with senior executives
  • Experience with subjects such as aerospace and technology
  • Experience with the Adobe Create Suite - (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)


Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
