Responsible for executing the enterprise sourcing vision and strategy. Directs a team of individuals assigned to assess opportunities in specific categories.

Essential Functions

  • Builds consensus on approach among stakeholders, and arrive at solutions that enable an enterprise approach to sourcing with significant cost reduction while improving or sustaining quality/service, supply chain integrity and other corporate objectives (e.g., diversity, sustainability).
  • Ensures compliance with the governance process and the Company sourcing methodology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or other related quantitative discipline is required.

Minimum Experience

Significant leadership experience and knowledge of sourcing, and supply chain processes is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated success in leading/executing complex projects, building out business cases, and working with external suppliers is required. The ability to build collaborative work environments, agile teams, and consensus among various stakeholders is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in IT sourcing in a global, complex, matrixed organization. Experience within the IT function (e.g. vendor-facing experience) will also be considered.
  • 5+ years experience leading teams and managing complex projects
  • Skills: Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Vendor Management, Risk Management, IT expertise, Strategic Thinking, Executive Presence and Communications, Stakeholder Management, Advanced Sourcing, Contract Management, Project Management, Financial Acumen & Cost Optimization

Additional Details: The desired locations for this position would be Memphis, TN, Plano, TX or Pittsburgh, PA. The ability to work remotely may be available based upon business needs.

  • Category Strategy: Develop and execute category strategies for the portfolio of sub-categories within IT: Managed Services, Compute, Storage, Network, etc. Identify opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation, policy/process changes, demand management, etc.
  • Ongoing Category Management: Collaborate with IT partners and internal business partners to manage the IT Category with clear objectives including financial and operational objectives. Work with stakeholders to execute the category strategy and refine the operating model (ways of working with the IT organization and the business partners). Deploy knowledge of the industry to improve external spend effectiveness. Use market intelligence to identify opportunities for FedEx to improve external spend effectiveness.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Manage competitive sourcing events (i.e., RFx) and deploy industry knowledge to FedEx's advantage. Lead complex negotiations with counterparties, structure deals and agreements to meet business requirements
  • Team Leadership: Develop, recruit, train and mentor a high-performing team of sourcing experts with the right capabilities to lead the IT sub-categories. Develop and manage a capability roadmap for the IT Sourcing team.
  • Supplier Management: Actively shape supplier relationships to align vendor performance with FedEx's requirements, risk management frameworks, and business objectives
