The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master's degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Position Summary
The Instructional Studio Technician provides essential support to the School of Nursing faculty, staff, and students using Educational Technologies. This includes Canvas LMS, Panopto, Zoom, and other related tools. They will provide technical support for audio-visual equipment and software during live events and classes. This role also provides flexible instruction support to faculty using the SON FISH (Flexible Instruction Support Hub). The Instructional Studio Technician ensures seamless integration of technology into teaching and learning, fostering a dynamic and engaging educational environment.

Responsibilities/Duties:
* Coordinate the SON FISH (flexible instruction support hub) day-to-day operations
* Configure studio space for individual needs and requirements
* Vet and approve studio usage requests
* Provide studio prep, editing, upload, and upkeep for faculty and staff using the SON FISH.
* Assist in equipment operation as well as Zoom features during live hybrid classes utilizing the studio.
* Provide comprehensive support to faculty and students on the use of the Canvas Learning Management System ( LMS), including course setup, content management, and troubleshooting.
* Assist faculty and students with lecture capture and video editing.
* Assist AV Specialist in classroom support for online and traditional classrooms.
* Develop and maintain documentation and training materials for instructional technologies.
* Stay up-to-date on emerging instructional technologies and trends.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position's role.
- Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journey level requires an additional six months experience
- Advanced level requires an additional one year of experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience providing technical support in an educational setting or working in a studio space preferred. Experience with Canvas LMS, Panopto, and Zoom is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of the Canvas LMS
  • Strong working knowledge of studio practices
  • Proficiency with video editing software
  • Proficiency with video & content distribution platforms - including, but not limited to Panopto, Youtube, Nearpod, and Microsoft Stream
  • Experience with Zoom or other video conferencing platforms
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
