Scope of Work

The Pacemaker Technician Senior works directly with patients to provide PPM/ICD device analysis, detection of problems and initiation of interventions, and continued follow-up under the direction of the physician. The pacemaker technicianis responsible for performing interrogations, determining pacing thresholds, reprogramming devices, and assessing battery statuses.The technicianwill be involved in research protocols, specific guidelines will be reviewed for each protocol.

Qualifications

  • Formal or informal training in pacemaker devices required.
  • The Pacemaker Technician needs to have a good background in cardiac care with respect to arrhythmia monitoring skills. E/P Lab or Cath Lab experience preferred.
  • BCLS/ACLS required, EKG interpretation experience required, NACVT or similar certification preferred.
  • Must have excellent customer relation skills, must use age specific, culture related, intellectual, psychosocial, and developmental attributes incorporated in patient care activities.
  • Must be able to work as a team and be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
  • The Pacemaker Technician must be able to interpret device analysis and notify the attending physician with any abnormality.
  • Detailed knowledge of new technology in devices is required.
  • Rapid developing technologies require continual updates to keep current on technical aspects of devices.
