Job Summary

The IT Manager is the primary onsite technical support resource supporting the retail dining operations technology at GWU. The IT Manager will support the with onsite operations team, the campus IT team, the internal technical support teams, and third-party vendor partners as needed. This role is also responsible for managing the end-to-end support of our retail front-of-house digital solutions, including: Transact Quadpoint Point of Sale, Kiosk, Mobile Ordering, Digital Signage, and other technology that supports the dining team onsite at our GWU campus in Washington, DC. This is a hands-on position supporting both strategic (where we want to go) and tactical activities (what we need to do now) relating to dining technology and its infrastructure needs. The IT Manager is an individual contributor role and does not manage any staff directly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assessing and troubleshooting various on campus technical issues that arise with our Transact POS workstations, network devices, windows-based point of sale system, and other digital solutions interfacing with both local and remote support teams as needed.
  • Assist in installation of POS equipment, network devices such as routers, switches, wireless access points, and other retail solutions. Installation may include, wire management, software configuration, menu changes/updates, and systems testing.
  • Responsible for training of onsite operations team on use of their digital technology.
  • Responsible for managing onsite inventory of digital and retail technology as well as daily systems maintenance to ensure operational and retail needs are met.
  • Serve as escalation contact for POS and network related issues, taking responsibility to see issue to resolution.
  • Ensure onsite technical products are communicated and on boarded with proper business units to ensure execution and delivery
  • Serve as primary partner to Campus Technology Teams (campus IT) and collaborate to ensure support and escalations are handled in a timely and organized manner.

Qualifications:

  • Good people skills and communication skills are a must to communicate technical solutions to non-technical audience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of technology support experience
  • Working knowledge of restaurant or retail technology and terminology including point of sale systems, kitchen management systems, and PCI Compliance critical for success in this role.
  • Experience in working with Point of Sale systems especially in the hospitality industry. Higher Ed Meal Plan and POS systems specifically a big plus.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and terminology to implement, support, and enforce Compass' cyber standards for all solutions deployed
  • Energetic self-starter able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly developed sense of ownership, responsibility and commitment to quality
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting deadlines
  • Effective organization, planning, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to lift, move equipment up to 50lbs
