Project Manager

Overview:

Hanson is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and dedicated Project Manager to lead the full project life cycle and ensure successful project execution. This role is pivotal in meeting client expectations, managing project scope, deliverables, budget, schedule, and quality. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment and demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills.

The Project Manager will report to a Senior Project Manager and play a key role in managing multiple, complex, multi-disciplinary projects. This position will focus on the Infrastructure market and will primarily manage Indiana and Kentucky DOT, Municipal, and Local Government (INDOT. KYTC, Counties, Cities, etc.) projects and involve working directly with clients, Practice Leads, and Discipline Managers and Market Principals.

Key Responsibilities

As a Project Manager at Hanson, your primary duties will include:

  • Project Planning & Execution: Manage all aspects of the project, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and resources. Ensure the successful execution of each phase, from planning to delivery.

  • Team Leadership & Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project progression. Coordinate with leadership to staff projects and engage subcontractors when necessary.

  • Client Engagement: Meet with clients to gather detailed project scoping information, clarify requirements, and maintain open communication throughout the project.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Lead the creation of comprehensive project reports, plans, and specifications. Ensure proper contract documentation and manage changes effectively.

  • Budget & Financial Management: Oversee project budgets and financials, ensuring timely billing and addressing any scope or budget changes. Monitor project financial performance and adjust project constraints as needed.

  • Risk & Quality Management: Proactively manage risks and quality control processes to deliver on-time and on-budget results. Ensure the health and safety of project staff.

  • Multi-Project Management: Successfully manage multiple projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations. Develop and implement project management plans, including change management, risk management, and communications plans.

A Day in Life:

  • Collaborate with technical staff to align on project goals and deliverables.

  • Coordinate with construction contractors and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution.

  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate resources, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.

  • Track performance and adjust project strategies to meet short- and long-term objectives.

  • Prepare and present project reports to both clients and internal teams.

  • Lead and conduct internal and external project team meetings.

  • Manage potential project delays and work through overlapping schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications We're Looking For

To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate will bring a mix of technical expertise, strong leadership, and soft skills. Below are the key qualifications:

Technical Skills

  • Project Financials: Ability to understand and manage accrual-based revenue recognition and read/interpret project budget/financial reports.

  • Project Controls: Proficiency with project controls, including earned value methodology, scheduling, and change management.

  • Contract Management: Capable of generating complex multi-discipline service agreements and managing contract risk reviews.

  • Quality & Billing: Commitment to quality control and understanding of billing/accounts receivables procedures.

  • Client Relations: Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and driving repeat business.

  • Project Management Plans: Expertise in developing comprehensive project management plans (including change management, risk management, communication, health and safety, and quality control plans).

  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with collaboration and project management tools (e.g., SmartSheet, Microsoft Project, AEC360, iAccess), or a strong ability to learn new platforms quickly.

Education & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in project management, with a strong background in multi-disciplinary project leadership.

  • Degree: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).

  • Project Management Professional (PMP): Certification is a plus, though not required.

  • Industry Experience: Experience in architectural or engineering project management is beneficial but not essential for candidates with strong project management skills.

The salary range for this position is: $100,000 - $154,000 per year. Compensation is based on years of relevant experience. This position may be eligible for discretionary annual bonuses.
