The Opportunity:

The UCF Student Success and Well-Being Recreation and Wellness Center is currently accepting applications for an Athletic Training and Risk Management Coordinator II. This role is responsible for the daily operation of the Recreation and Wellness Center's Athletic Training Program and providing on-site medical coverage as an athletic trainer during Intramural Sports and Sport Club activities. Athletic Training services include evaluation and diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, emergency care, and preventative care to student participants. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation and working in partnership with a team of certified athletic trainers, this staff member will assist in providing evaluation and diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, emergency care, and preventative care to student participants.

This is an Auxiliary-funded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate and attend to athletic training services, duties and coverage for the Recreation and Wellness Center, including but not limited to Intramural Sports, Athletic Training Clinic, Sport Clubs and general open recreation.

  • Supervise the Athletic Training staff to include PRN contracted certified athletic trainers.

  • Coordinate the recruitment, hiring, supervising, evaluating and overall development of the part-time staff. Areas of responsibility include recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, evaluating and overall development.

  • Responsible for recommending and purchasing medical equipment and supplies for the RWC and tracking sports medicine equipment inventory.

  • Responsible for budget preparation and management for assigned areas.

  • Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures, including but not limited to concussion testing & management, Emergency Action Plans, audits, and Injury/Accident Report management and follow-up.

  • Coordinate with UCF General Counsel, Risk Management, Emergency Management, Police and appropriate campus and local health partners on all RWC medical, liability and compliance policy documents.

  • Coordinate, schedule, and serve as an instructor and lead administrative officer for the American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certification courses.

  • Maintain records of required certification for all RWC staff.

  • Serve as a clinical instructor and preceptor in conjunction with UCF's academic Master's athletic training program.

  • Assist in the marketing and assessment efforts of the Athletic Training Program.




Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Possess a FL Department of Health Athletic Training License by start date.

  • Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer Approved

  • Should have a degree from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program.

  • American Red Cross First Aid, AED & CPR Instructor Certified or ability to become certified by UCF.

  • Prior experience working as an athletic trainer in a recreational setting.
