Description

The Health and Nutrition Services Coordinator will establish, maintain, and monitor health and nutrition records for all pregnant women, infants, and toddlers enrolled in the Early Head Start (EHS) Program. The Health and Nutrition Services women and parents/guardians of infants and toddlers to ensure that the health and nutritional needs of the pregnant women and infants and toddlers enrolled in the EHS program are being addressed. The Health and Nutrition Services Coordinator will also conduct home visits as appropriate. The Health and Nutrition Services Coordinator works under the general supervision of the Health and Nutrition Services Manager, who works collaboratively with the Child Health and Nutrition Clinician to address the health needs of participants enrolled in the UCLA Early Head Start Program.

This is a 12-month contract position that may be converted to career.

Salary Range: $63,800 - $127,000 Annually

Qualifications Required:
  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures and have available transportation.
  • Mandatory CPR, Basic First Aid Certificate, must be updated as required
  • Fingerprint screening, Criminal Record and Child Abuse Index Clearance
  • Per funding agency requirements, all Early Head Start staff must complete background checks at least every five years that includes, sex offender registry check, State or FBI criminal history check, including fingerprint check, child abuse. and neglect state registry checks if available in the state of California.
  • Must meet state health requirements that include passing a physical examination as condition of employment, providing verification of COVID-19 vaccine, TB Clearance, and up-to-date with immunizations.
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Health Education, Public Health, Maternal and Child Health, Health Administration or related program and/or equivalent experience/training, or a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
  • Three years' supervisory and/or management experience in EHS or related program Experience and knowledge in supervision techniques (e.g., reflective supervision).
  • Knowledge of HSPPS, Head Start Act, CACFP and other state and local regulations.
  • Fluency and proficiency in English, Excellent written and oral communication skills, detail oriented
  • Sound organizational and time management skills to manage high and varied activity level.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including excel.
  • Effectively and successfully interact with multi-lingual individuals and families from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Completion and submission of required personnel forms prior to employment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with families, Early Head Start staff, community resource agencies, consultants and volunteers to support families in locating and accessing appropriate community services as needed.
  • Ability to provide education, training opportunities, and promote positive relationship building for all enrolled pregnant women, families and their infants and toddlers.
  • Ability to conduct on-site staff training if needed.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in public health or related field
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • 5 units in Administration of children's program.
  • Knowledge of program philosophy, goals, principles, objectives and requirements; Early Head Start policies and procedures; understanding of child development principles with an emphasis on infant/toddler developmental stages and nurturing concepts; prenatal development and appropriate health care during pregnancy; family dynamics, cultural beliefs; advocacy and intervention concepts; crisis management, community resources and referral; processes and functions of social service agencies
