About the Role:

As Marketing Manager, you will partner with the Product Organisation and Journal Editors, as well as the wider Marketing organization, to create compelling go-to-market strategies for our flagship Advanced journal brand.

You'll be part of the Journal Marketing team, crafting customer-centric, data-backed strategies to enhance our connections with researchers and authors. Your goal? Achieving key performance indicators like article submissions, revenue and readership growth as we extend our flagship Advanced brand into related fields in Life and Health Sciences, including launching new titles into these markets.

As an experienced marketing professional, you have a strong collaborative approach and excellent communication skills enabling you to interact with a range of different stakeholders. You will need to effectively manage relationships with senior Editorial colleagues to ensure we're working to common objectives. China will be a key market, and working closely with the Field Team in China will be vital.

You can analyze data, market and competitive intelligence, and other insights to inform strategies and plans. You think and plan both for the longer term and to react in an agile fashion to market and competitive situations. You care about improving journal brand awareness and engagement always with the goal of achieving article growth and increasing Open Access revenues.

You understand what a great marketing campaign looks like - from proposition and messaging, to appropriate channel usage, so that you can get best results from collaboration with the shared service functions who execute those campaigns. Identifying, planning and running events at key industry conferences will be crucial. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and effective project management. Self-motivated individuals with a broad understanding of branding, brand recognition, proven marketing strategies, audience engagement, and marketing communication best practices are encouraged to apply.

How you will make an impact:

  • Executes go-to-market strategies for the Advanced portfolio expansion:
    • Understands the macro market environment and competitive environment for a product portfolio.
    • Understands buyer and user behavior and the needs of researchers and society partners.
    • Applies knowledge for effective product targeting and market segmentation.
    • Assist in managing vendor communications and support, ensuring service levels are met and addressing operational issues.
  • Reviews market intelligence, market research and competitor behaviour to understand what customers need and want; identifies areas where Wiley can deliver article growth and market share.
  • Has deep understanding of customer needs and pain points to develop and adapt marketing strategies for journal products.
  • Supports campaigns across email, digital and social channels, from ideation stage through to execution.
  • Plans and runs sponsorships and in-person conferences and events, including workshops and receptions.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's degree in sciences, marketing, business management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of marketing experience, preferably within publishing or a customer-centric service industry.
  • Proven expertise in data analytics with the ability to interpret insights and drive strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Deep customer focus, with experience in account and stakeholder management.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Self-aware and adaptable leader, capable of managing within a matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in complex environments and influence without direct authority.

The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the UK, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
