Business Unit Manufacturing Controller - Kingsford, Rhinelander or Iron River

Summary

The business unit manufacturing controller is primarily responsible for all the accounting functions and other business requirements within this approximately $125 million to $150 million business. The major job functions in this role include the production, accuracy, analysis and reporting out to management of the financial information in periodic financial reports, manufacturing cost accounting and working with operations to help ensure they have the required financial support to manage the manufacturing operations, maintenance of all the accounting records, ensuring the business unit has a comprehensive set of internal controls, budget and forecast analysis designed to mitigate risk, provide suggestions on improving profitability, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Principal Accountabilities:

Daily Management:


  1. Maintain division's Delegation of Authority regarding accounting policies and procedures.
  2. Coordinate and oversee all the day to day accounting operations of this business unit, especially its internal control systems, transaction-processing, cash management, and month end financial reporting to hit the six day close cycle for all of Trident.
  3. Work with Senior Plant Management in order to maintain accurate detailed project and manufacturing cost accounting records while performing analysis on these projects to ensure revenue and margin targets are being achieved and alert local senior management of any issues on these projects. Ensure manufacturing cost accounting is accurate.
  4. Adhere to the Monthly/Quarterly and Annual corporate accounting closing, forecasting and budget schedules.
  5. Assist local Senior Management in the day to day running of the business unit and provide financial guidance as needed.
  6. Comply with Local and State and Federal Government Tax and Reporting Requirements.



Transaction Processing:

  1. Ensure an accurate record of all job costing and product costing at the business unit including capturing material, labor and overhead costs while also assisting in the calculation of proper overhead rates and apply percentage of completion accounting where appropriate.
  2. Responsible for maintaining and assisting Senior Management with accurate product costing using the Infor- CSI ERP system.
  3. Safeguard and insure proper accounting records of all inventories on and off-site.
  4. Coordinate with Headquarters and report cash requirements in a timely manner including the 13-week cash flow.
  5. Coordinate account receivable activities with HQ, including assisting with collection efforts in a timely manner.
  6. Coordinate any payroll activities with Human Resources in a timely manner
  7. Maintain a system of internal controls over all accounting transactions.



Reporting:

  1. Issue timely, accurate and complete financial statements on a monthly basis.
  2. Coordinate and manage the preparation of the business unit's annual budget and rolling financial forecasts.
  3. Issue monthly/quarterly and annual financial reports while explaining fluctuations from Budgeted or Forecasted Results as well as assist with the year-end audit with BDO.
  4. Provide any financial analysis as needed by plant management.
  5. Responsible for leading annual budget process at High Bridge.
  6. Must be proficient in Excel and have worked with ERP systems in the past.



Desired Qualifications:

The Business Unit controller candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience. Manufacturing or Construction experience is a Plus. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations are a plus. Managing personnel as this position has four direct reports.

Working Conditions:

Primarily in a plant manufacturing office environment with periodic weekend or evening work as needed. There is very little to no travel in this position.

Position Reports To:

This position reports directly to the Plant's General Manager and Trident's CFO.
