Overview
The Project Control Analyst provides project financial and reporting support to Division Leads. Compiles data from Accounting and Contracts to analyze project status. Acts as a liaison between Operations and primarily the Accounting, Finance and Contracts functions. This position is based in our Corporate Office in California, MD in a hybrid capacity.
What will you do?
- Works with Program/Project Managers and Contracts on LOC notices
- Review project set-up for all new contracts (WBS, POP, etc.) to ensure accuracy
- Work closely with Accounting and Contracts to ensure validity of data, address billing and deliverable requirements, etc.
- Understand the budget for each project and assist PMs with staying current on financial data relative to project
- Review time charging for all assigned projects
- Review expenses for each project for accuracy and correct project alignment
- Reconcile actual vs. budget costs per project
- Submit monthly accruals for all assigned projects
- Review and understand the monthly revenue, gross profit and identify any variances
- Understand unbilled data, accounts receivable and accounts payable relative to projects and assist in managing DSO/DPO
- Prepare monthly reporting for the assigned Division
- Review and work with PMs on approving all invoices prior to customer submission
- Work as a part of the Accounting team on the monthly close process
- Review and prepare monthly EACs and ETCs
- Understand working at risk thresholds on each project and get appropriate approvals as needed
- Understand reporting needs of each Division and department interfacing with assigned projects
- Calculate incentive awards / commissions applicable to assigned Division
- Support the Division Lead for any ad hoc reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Other duties as assigned
Monthly reporting will include but may not be limited to:
- Revenue and gross profit with variance analysis
- Labor utilization with variance analysis
- Work at Risk summary
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable commentary relative to assigned projects
- Unbilled commentary relative to assigned projects
- Backlog reporting in concert with Contracts data
Do you have what it takes?
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in government contracting performing in a Project Control, Finance / Accounting, or related role
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interface with staff members at all levels within the organization
- Individuals hired into positions holding financial responsibility may be subject to a credit check
- Experience with Cognos Enterprise Reporting tool is a plus
- Exceptional Excel skills including the ability to analyze data
- Experience using CostPoint
Pay Range: VTG's estimated starting pay range is $70,000-$90,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
