We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Content Advisor within our Community Relations & Employee Engagement Department based in Houston, Texas.

The Community Relations & Employee Engagement team seeks a candidate with strong experience in creating written and digital marketing content for internal and external publication. The position reports to the Lead, Community Investment & Strategy, and will drive the development and implementation of strategic communications plans that promote Oxy's commitment to corporate philanthropy. This role is responsible for developing a comprehensive communications strategy that demonstrates our intentional approach to the company's charitable giving, volunteerism, and employee engagement efforts. The Content Advisor will shape our corporate philanthropy narrative and establish a structured communications process. This role also includes providing recommendations to improve the marketing requests process and generating story ideas across the Community Relations & Employee Engagement team. We seek someone who can offer fresh ideas and enhance our overall storytelling experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write content, including community partner profiles, event announcements and recaps, bulk emails, community impact reports, and compelling narratives about the department's strategic charitable investments, intended for internal and/or external publication.
  • Manage the development and execution of materials including community website content, annual community brochure, and presentations.
  • Manage and maintain the internal Community Relations & Employee Engagement website. This includes but not limited to community partner content, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and photos.
  • Assist in project management and development of annual publications, videos, internal campaigns and other corporate communications related to community initiatives.
  • Create and maintain an editorial calendar that aligns with Community Relations & Employee Engagement and other internal clients' communication needs.
  • Design graphics and marketing materials to accompany written content.
  • Work closely with Corporate Affairs and Communications Brand & Marketing teams on social media strategy and engagement, with a focus on community investments and employee engagement.
  • Coordinate, gather and collate domestic initiatives supporting community investments for inclusion in various communication materials, including an annual report on impact.
  • Work closely with internal clients, including Community Relations & Employee Engagement, Corporate Affairs, Communications Brand & Marketing, and external third-party vendors on creative and strategic messaging, marketing collateral, signage, and advertising.
  • Work closely with internal clients to ensure compliance with corporate branding guidelines for internal and external communications.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, advertising, or another applicable field.
  • 7+ years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or advertising preferred.
  • Client-centered focus and ability to work in a fast-paced environment manage priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in developing and implementing branding/marketing programs and materials.
  • Previous experience working on marketing campaigns, including messaging and visual collateral.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, analytical and a resourceful problem solver with the ability to formulate and execute plans efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision and possess the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to own projects from initial concept creation to final sign-off.
  • Ability to lead, with internal and external partners, production, and development of brand assets.
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, improve processes, deal with unexpected issues and follow-up to completion.
  • Demonstrated high-level of creativity and innovation.
  • Demonstrated planning, change management and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Demonstrated expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products, (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel); PivotTable experience required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and collaborate with all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrate strong written, verbal, presentation and dialogue communications skills.
  • Proven time management skills; ability to plan and anticipate needs/changes to meet deadlines on time with a willingness to put in extra time to meet deadlines or ensure effectiveness.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and exhibit flexibility when work assignments or priorities change.
  • Dependable and ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
