Want to be part of an exciting team helping the wind industry? Broadwind Heavy Fabrications in Abilene, TX is currently looking fora Roller Operator to join our team on C Shift, which is 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This shift also comes with a $4.50/hr shift differential. The Roller is responsible for operating the roll machine, using roller work instructions and knowledge of steel properties to roll cans.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:(May include some or all of the following responsibilities)
*Check plate edge prepping
*Use blue prints to proactively identify parameters to form job
*Adjust equipment settings according to different materials and how they take pressures
*Use one of the roll machines to roll tower cans, understanding the pinch pressure process
*Check the radius of can using sweeps
*Weld 2G GMAW to quality specification (root pass)
*Clean root pass after welding
*Use crane to remove can from roller
*Inspect rigging equipment daily
*Safely and efficiently operate overhead crane
*Complete CRLW log
*Record job and section worked in time matrix
*Actively support all EHS and continuous improvement initiatives
*Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: *High school diploma or GED required. 1 year of welding experience or completion of an accredited two year welder's training program or equivalent combination of education and experience. *Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality, raw materials and other techniques, methods and tools involved in the process of fabricating steel support structures. *Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.

Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability: *Ability to independently operate EITHER the Faccin or Davi roller, understanding how the machine rolls, the pinch pressure process, how to use pushers to align bevel edges, familiar with the controls, preventative maintenance on the machine. *Ability to set parameters, change wire, gas and liner on MIG welder. *Able to use come along to move plate to line beveled edges. *Ability to efficiently and independently use ruler, hand grinder, hard-stone and wire wheel, sanding pad, cut-off wheel, hand scraper, welding pliers, hydraulic pump, and bridge cam to perform tasks associated with position. *Able to locate and reference all work instructions pertaining to current job or project. Understanding of department KPIs, metrics and measurables. *Sense of urgency and accountability. *Overhead crane certified.
