SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence. Compensation: Position Description: The Porter's primary function is to provide the upkeep and maintenance of the facilities within the portfolio, as well as provide a comfortable, clean, and dignified home for residents. Performs cleaning of the buildings and grounds and provides light maintenance. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (40 hours per week) Required: Some HS Education or GED; 2+ years of janitorial experience. Experience providing services to low-income populations, families, and seniors preferred. Required License/Certification: Must possess and maintain a vehicle and valid driver's license, as well as personal car liability insurance coverage. This is a contingency of employment. The vehicle should be safe and reliable (mileage will be reimbursed). Expected Contributions: Maintenance & Grounds
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Reports To: Property Manager Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires walking up and down stairs. Stooping, bending, sweeping, and lifting. Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing prior to or during your employment with SOME.
