National Grid is hiring a Senior Engineer, Main and Service Asset for our Gas Distribution Engineering, NY department in Melville, NY.

Job Purpose

To enable National Grid to build and maintain a safe, reliable and robust gas distribution system and optimize the return on investment from assets related to gas distribution engineering which includes over 12,000 miles of distribution main and 1,700,000 services.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the identification and formulation of strategic objectives specific to gas distribution engineering and identify and employ technical innovation to drive change, improve reliability, manage risk, meet regulatory obligations, and deliver customer satisfaction at optimum cost.
  • Design work plans in a non-geographically based group to ensure effective use of resources and effective solutions for internal customers.
  • Develop risk-based capital plans for National Grid gas distribution systems in the medium term (up to five years) including preliminary estimates.
  • Develop capital rate plans and deliver them to regulatory agencies including New York Public Service Commission.
  • Deliver work scopes for projects to remediate or replace assets within the portfolio.
  • Work closely with Project Development, Project Management, Resource Planning, and Complex Construction to ensure that work plans are delivered on time and on budget.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
  • Able to operate within or supervise a project team or virtual team to achieve business objectives, plans and targets to enhance performance, condition, records and compliance with statutory requirements.
Qualifications
  • .Bachelor of Science/Engineering Degree in an Engineering discipline required.
  • Master of Science/Engineering preferred.
  • A minimum of four (4) years' engineering/technical role.
  • FE preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant utility industry practices, standards and legislation preferred.
  • Proven experience prioritizing work and managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously within budget and time constraintspreferred.
  • Previous experience working in a Project Management team environment preferred.
  • Excellent financial tracking and analysis skills; familiar with Maximo, SAP, PowerPlan.
  • Detailed knowledge of safety policy and potential hazards of the gas distribution network as well as a firm understanding of process safety.

Salary: $124,000 - $146,000
